To celebrate the Minton Archive’s return to the city, Stoke-on-Trent City Archives and The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery have collaborated on “Welcome Home! A Celebration of the Minton Archive”, a new display at the museum which runs until Sunday 27th March 2016.
Located in the first floor circular gallery, this interactive display reunites original Minton material from the archive with some of the museum’s wonderful collection of Minton pieces. Like our themed searches here on the Minton Archive website they help to illustrate the journey of production, from initial designs and artwork to the finished piece. An interactive screen lets you view the website – and the growing online catalogue – as part of the display. In a few months time you’ll also be able to use it to leaf through the pages of one of the early pattern books.
We’ll be writing more about the items we picked out – and how difficult a choice it was given the size and quality of the archive! – in future posts. In the meantime, make your way to The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery to get a first glimpse into the records of the Minton factory and the objects which were created there.
