Faces from the Folios

During our recent “Anniversary Update” push we chose to digitise a number of illustrations from SD 1705/MS1761, an Art & Design folio full of pencil-drawn portraits by H.W. Foster. Bowled over by the quality of the illustrations we uncovered we were faced with a bit of a conundrum: the size of each design made the digitisation process long and involved, but we really wanted to share more than two or three representative examples with you.

The Hizen Vase, Part 3: It Exists!

Back in July we published a two-part series of blog posts on the discovery and the contents of a folio labelled “Hizen Vase”. We pieced as much of the puzzle back together as we could – quite literally in the case of the overlapping illustrations! – but we weren’t able to find out if the vase ever entered production. Imagine our excitement, then, when we received information and photographs confirming that a production Hizen Vase really does exist!

Conserving The Minton Archive

With funding provided by the Art Fund (with a contribution from The Wolfson Foundation), and The Pilgrim Trust, through the National Manuscripts Conservation Trust, we have recently begun a one-year conservation project for The Minton Archive. Anniversary Update: 1000 Images!

On the 25th September 2015 we officially launched The Minton Archive website with 28 freshly-digitised records and 93 images to accompany them. Today we’re celebrating our “anniversary” with a catalogue update which brings the total number of highlighted records up to 150 and the total number of images up to a whopping 1000!
